About Tour
Along the edge of Orlando’s suburban sprawl, there awaits the “Real Florida,” subtropical wetlands, havens for all types of wildlife. Adventures in Florida has created two tours specifically to search for our feathery friends. Along the Saint John’s River and its watershed are sprawling floodplain marshes,
an ideal habitat that attracts more species of birds than any other habitat of the interior of central Florida. Throughout the year, over two hundred species of birds can be encountered here! Herons, Egrets, Bald Eagles, Anhingas, Swallow Tail Kites, Snail Kites, Limpkins, Roseate Spoonbills, Ducks, Warblers, and many more. Grab your binoculars and join us on an adventure where the water and sky merge into a bird habitat. The long tour offers a more immersive experience, covering more of the river and offering opportunities to observe additional birds and the environment. It
includes a light picnic lunch.
These birding tours were created by our guide Matthew G., who saw a need for quality birding tours in the Orlando area. He said, “I’m not an ornithologist but I do have a special affinity for birds. It was bird watching, bird listening, that pulled me back into a love for the natural world.”

About the operator
Founded in 1995, Adventures in Florida is known for its amazing kayaking and canoe tours down scenic rivers and crystal-clear springs, as well as its Bioluminescence paddles. Visitors have excellent opportunities to view and photograph alligators, manatees, turtles, dolphins, and countless wading birds in their natural wild areas. Adventures in Florida started with a group of lifelong friends who always seemed to find better things to do than hold a job. Weekend trips stretched into month-long expeditions. Family trips grew to include family, friends, and friends of friends. When it became impossible to even consider regular work, we incorporated. Over the years, we have managed our growth to avoid losing the very things that made us successful: small-group travel and first-class service with the highest level of professionalism. We will never compromise our commitment to you, our guest, or to the preservation of the natural environment. TripAdvisor has recognized our commitment to quality by awarding us its 5-star “Certificate of Excellence” consistently since 2011.

Fantastic morning seeing wildlife! Our guide Terra was amazing at helping to find and identify many birds, gators, manatees, and turtles. Her knowledge of facts about the river, springs, and animals was an added bonus!

My daughters and I just had two amazing manatee kayak trip with Adventures in Florida. Our guide, Tia, was amazing–knowledgeable, passionate about her subject matter, and a true inspiration for two very curious ten year olds who asked ALL the questions. Really can’t say enough about the experience and especially about our guide. Dave, the owner, answered all of our questions and guided us to the right trip for the time of year and the age of the kids.Thank you for making a holiday trip to central Florida into a lifelong memory! We will definitely be back.

It was a trip I will do again, and recommend to anyone headed that way!

Our group of 3 visited April 26, 2026. Our guide, Tia, was amazing! She not only led us to some really interesting areas, she was super knowledgeable about the vegetation, animals, and birds that we were seeing. We had hoped to see a gator, and maybe a manatee…. we got to see about 8 alligators, 2 manatee, bald eagles, osprey….. and so much more. It was a trip I will do again, and recommend to anyone headed that way!

Wonderful six days with Adventures In florida… Greg was an amazing guide and cook, just all around wonderful person. We were three couples in our 70s plus we made some new friends! We paddled in beautiful streams, rivers, swamps, and springs where we swam highly. Lots of wildlife…manatees, alligators, birds. We all highly recommend this trip! Both Greg and his assistant stop Dave were terrific.
